SEMAGLUTIDE Q&A

Q. What is Semaglutide?

Semaglutide is an GLP-1 receptor agonist. It was initially developed to treat type 2 diabetes by mimicking the effects of the GLP-1 hormone in the body. When researchers observed significant weight loss in patients taking semaglutide for diabetes, the medication was further studied and eventually approved for weight loss treatment. Clinical trials, including the STEP trials, demonstrated that nearly 90% of patients taking semaglutide for weight loss experienced a reduction of at least 5% in their body weight. Due to its effectiveness, the FDA approved semaglutide for weight loss in June 2021. Semaglutide has become one of the most effective weight loss drugs available, showing greater efficacy than other options on the market.

Q. How does it work?

• Semaglutide works by mimicking the actions of the GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) hormone, which plays a significant role in regulating blood sugar levels and appetite. Here's how it works:
• Increases Insulin Production: Semaglutide stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin in response to food intake. This helps lower blood glucose levels, particularly after meals.
• Decreases Glucagon Production: It suppresses the release of glucagon, a hormone that typically prompts the liver to release stored glucose into the bloodstream. By reducing glucagon levels, semaglutide helps prevent an excessive rise in blood sugar.
• Delays Gastric Emptying: Semaglutide slows down emptying the stomach's contents into the small intestine. This prolongs the feeling of fullness after eating, which can reduce the amount of food consumed.
• Suppresses Appetite: By acting on the appetite centers in the brain, semaglutide decreases feelings of hunger. It signals to the brain that you are full, helping to reduce overall food intake without the sensation of deprivation.
• These combined effects make semaglutide an effective treatment for both managing blood sugar in type 2 diabetes and promoting weight loss.

Q. How often do you inject?

Injections of semaglutide are typically administered once a week. However, if you experience side effects like nausea or feel sick after the injection, a healthcare provider may consider adjusting the dosing schedule. This could involve split dosing, where the weekly dose is divided into two smaller injections given twice a week to help minimize the severity of side effects.

Q. How quickly will you see results?

Most patients begin to see results within the first two weeks of starting semaglutide, though for some, it may take up to a month or longer to notice significant changes. Everyone's body responds differently, so the timeline for seeing results can vary from person to person. Consistency with the treatment and following any additional lifestyle recommendations your healthcare provider provides can also influence how quickly you see results.

Q. How should I store it?

Keep it at a temperature between 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C). Avoid freezing the medication; if it does freeze, do not use it. Additionally, ensure that the vial is stored in its original packaging until you can use it. If you have any concerns about storage, consult your healthcare provider.e.

Q. I missed my dose. What should I do?

If you miss a dose of semaglutide, take it as soon as you remember. After taking the missed dose, adjust your schedule so that your next injection is one week from the day you took the missed dose. Continue with this new schedule going forward. If you are close
to your next scheduled dose (less than 2 days), skip the missed dose and take the next one as initially planned. Always follow your healthcare provider's guidance for dosing adjustment.

Q. I am nauseous; what do I do?

If you're experiencing nausea after your semaglutide injection, let your healthcare provider know. Nausea is a common side effect, and it often subsides over time. Here are some strategies to manage it:
• Take your injection at night before bed: This can help you sleep through most of the nausea.
• Eat smaller, more frequent meals: Avoid large or heavy meals, as they can worsen nausea and cause gas.
• Consider prescription medications: Your provider may prescribe medications to help offset the nausea.
If the nausea persists or worsens, consult your healthcare provider for further guidance.

Q. I am constipated; how can I fix that?

If you are experiencing constipation, we recommend a supplement called Metabolic Refresh to keep you regular. Please reach out to your provider for more information.
• Increase fiber intake: Eating more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can help prevent constipation.
• Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of water throughout the day is important for maintaining healthy digestion.
• Regular physical activity: Exercise can help stimulate bowel movements.
If constipation persists despite these measures, consult your healthcare provider for further advice.

Q. How long is the treatment?

The length of semaglutide treatment depends on your weight loss goals and how much weight you wish to lose. Some patients only need the medication for a few months, while others require longer-term treatment. Your healthcare provider will work with you to determine the appropriate duration based on your progress and goals. Regular check-ins with your provider will help assess your response to the treatment and make any necessary adjustments.

Q. Is my semaglutide or treatment refundable?

UR Loved Health provides goods and services that are considered irrevocable. As a result, we do not issue refunds for any product or service injected or used in your treatment. Please ensure you fully commit to the treatment before proceeding, as all sales are final.
